Job Advert Summary

To develop new & drive existing digital GMD channels whilst optimizing the X-management of all GMD Of- and On-Line Channels. To translate and oversee the implementation of the Omnichannel strategy ensuring the best overall Customer Experience within the GMD Division.

Responsible for:

1) the development and implementation of the GMD Divisional Omnichannel Range, Price & Promo plan in collaboration with the GMD Merchants;

2) to ensure optimal Availability & Stockturn for the entire Online range in collaboration with Planning/Operations;

3) To optimize sell-out by cost-effectively driving page views and conversion rates in collaboration with Marketing

Minimum Requirements

Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management/Category Management/Procurement (RPL)

3-5 years Category Management experience

1-3 years Online experience (Advantageous)

Retail Experience

Sound knowledge of buying fundamentals

Strong financial background

Advanced computer literacy

Duties & Responsibilities

Range, Price & Promo Development & Implementation:

Implement and execute category-specific growth strategies that meet or exceed company and department expectations

Implement strategic initiatives that capitalize on new and innovative ways to understand and address market trends and variances

Establish unique supplier solutions across a range of products and geographical areas to achieve improved margin and innovation through delivering a positive outcome.

Continually seek improvement of product quality and format to meet consumer needs; recognize global ingredient trends; collaborate with suppliers

Make decisions based on customer, market, and industry data to capitalize on time-sensitive merchandising opportunities

Proactively evaluate Online merchandising plans throughout implementation to determine fit with organizational goals; modify plans as needed to maximize goal attainment

Develop and implement approaches that improve performance, quality, work efficiency and/or reduce costs for category team(s); identify cross-functional process improvements impacting category team(s); recommend improvements to Online and Commercial leadership.

Develop the best possible customer proposition by implementing assortment planning based on data and customer analytics, being competitively priced, ensuring attractive promotions and a visually appealing and customer centric website

Compile and review online category plans and ensure ranges and customer experience is in line with the role of category

Source products, identify launches and content to drive online awareness and seeks new opportunities for online marketing campaigns

Availability & Stock turn Optimization:

Ensure correct stock levels in Fulfillment sites in collaboration with Planning

Communication to all stakeholders to increase In-stocks and reduce OOS

Taking appropriate action and ownership (speedy, cost-effectively) to address Overstocks and/or Distressed Stock

Optimizing stock turns, reducing DSC in order to reduced tied up capital

Maximization of Sell-out Performance:

Drive sales growth strategies and online promotional strategies and plans

Provide input and feedback on everyday pricing strategy

Leverage the impact of industry developments, merchandise and lifestyle trends, and evolving insights on short- and long-term buying strategies

Translate category-specific strategies into tactical buying plans that lead to category performance and align with Pick n Pay’s overall business strategy

Develop, translate, and promote merchandising solutions to achieve business goals and influence financial performance

Develop merchandising solutions to achieve business goals and influence financial performance through a comprehensive understanding of industry trends and market forces

Leverage in-depth knowledge of Pick n Pay’s merchandise and brands to enhance short- and long-term planning

Leverage new developments and technical advances related to merchandising to improve productivity and efficiency

Self- & Stakeholder Management + Engagement:

Develop and manage relationships with suppliers to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities; demonstrate confidence and expertise when interacting with suppliers; mentor and develop others on best practices for building supplier relationshipsProvide strategic direction for online range extension and explores opportunities through existing and new suppliers

Work with suppliers according to company values; make non-purchasing commitments to suppliers based on business goals, and follow through on these commitments; foster a collaborative environment with suppliers where both parties demonstrate a willingness to gain a deeper understanding of each other’s business goals
