ABOUT THE ROLE / PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Secunda Synfuels Operations (SSO) operates the world’s largest coal-to-liquids (CTL) facility and produces synthesis gas (syngas) through coal gasification and natural gas reforming, using Sasol’s unique and proprietary Fischer-Tropsch technology to manufacture synthetic fuel components, pipeline gas and chemical feedstock.
This job entails utilising technical knowledge in Advanced Process Control engineering to solve operational challenges in a dynamic petrochemical environment. The Advanced Process Control Engineer reports to the Engineering Lead for the APC/CRO team and will be responsible for the advanced control applications across the Secunda site. Travelling between control rooms on site as well as occasional standby support will be needed.
Develop new and maintain existing advanced control applications for processes across the site based on business requirements and benefits achieved. Support plants across site with troubleshooting process control related issues and provide solutions based on the specifics of the challenge and the control tools available.

B Eng. / BSc Eng. / B Eng. (Hons) (Chemical or Electronic) and/or M Eng. in Control Engineering (Wish)
Broad-based control engineering and specialisation in Advanced Process Control, Human Machine Interface applications with 8+ years in relevant industry.
