APPLICATIONS FOR MISA APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME
2019/20-2022 Financial Years

MISA is a Schedule 3 government component of the Department of Cooperative Governance (DCoG) established in terms of Section 7(5) of the Public Service Act of 1994 (as amended), with the mandate to provide technical support and build technical capacity for municipalities to enhance their capability to undertake efficient planning ,
delivery , operations and maintenance of municipal infrastructure. The Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (MISA) in collaboration with the Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority (LGSETA) hereby offers opportunities for Apprenticeship aimed at facilitating training towards artisanship aimed at enhancing
municipal operations and maintenance capacity. This Programme shall commence on 2019/20 financial year to the required periods as per detailed programmes prescriptions. Find details in the MISA / COGTA websites.Successful candidates will be placed in identified municipalities, (find details of participating municipalities on MISA /COGTA websites) depending on the needs and the capacity of Municipalities to provide work expose and give the relevant support to the candidates’ choice of trades.

 Relevant Engineering NC(V) Certificate with seven
subjects at NQF level 3;or
 Technical Grade 11 with Maths, Science, language and related theory subject; or

The Apprenticeship Programme is a three-year Learnership programme aimed at facilitating training of successful
learners to become Artisans. Whilst the programme is not exclusively limited to individuals from previously
disadvantaged communities, MISA encourages historically disadvantaged individuals to apply too. The MISA
Apprenticeship programme is a structured training focusing on youth candidates from FETs and various
accredited training institutions, and possess relevant qualifications for the advertised trades. Successful
candidates shall go through workshop and off the job training en route to qualifying as Artisans. The recruitment
is targeting a cohort that shall start in 2019/2020 -2022 financial years, in particular Learners that are from
municipalities listed for this advert as contained in the MISA / COGTA website. Successful candidates will enter
into two to three-years learnership contracts as determined by the requirements of the specific trades. The
Learners will enter into a contract with MISA and be placed with the identified municipalities for the duration of
the learnership.
Applicants must be willing and available for placement including rotation and relocation to other
municipalities or private sector organisations for adequate work exposure. Please note that MISA does
not guarantee any employment opportunity post qualification.

 Certified copies of relevant qualifications

MISA reserves the right to / not to make appointments. If no response is received from MISA in 90 days after the
closing date, it must be presumed that your application was unsuccessful. Correspondence regarding the

1. Candidate will be subjected to suitability checks including qualifications , employment, credit, criminal records,
